Happy New Year – 2023 has arrived. Pandemic, Floods and Beyond!
Now for a wonderful fresh start at the beginning of this Year of the Rabbit!
I look forward to a revitalised year ahead after both the Pandemic of the previous two years, and the catastrophic floods in 2022, in this region. The floods continue across Australia; many other communities are experiencing similar problems. That is the nature of Australia, but it does not make life easy. Personally, I had a bit of a hiatus in 2022, as I managed a broken wrist for many weeks.
Fibre Arts Take Two
It was fortuitous for me, and for many others, that the fabulous Fibre Arts Take Two team came bursting into the fibre arts world at the time of the restrictions occurring because of the Pandemic. What a gift it has been to be able to participate in a series of fantastic, enriching workshops and a vibrant online community, while in lock down, and beyond.
The courses are beautifully filmed and presented, with fantastic access to the tutor for the first couple of months in each course. The tutors were all so very giving with their knowledge, wisdom, various techniques and inspirational creative opportunities.
The dedicated Facebook page for the course enabled all participants to share their work and gain feedback from both the tutor and their fellow participants. I cannot speak more highly of the FATT team dedicated to furthering fibre arts and providing such wonderful workshops.
The courses in which I participated (which certainly assisted me to continue to create through the Covid lock-downs and general pandemic measures) were:
Inspired by nature – Exploring mixed media with Tara Axford
Perfectly Imperfect – discovering your visual language with Lorna Crane
Processes and Possibilities – Connecting Through Collage with Cordula Kagemann
Making Connections – Mark, Layer and Stitch with Cas Holmes
Essence of Identity – A Master Class with Donna Watson
Visual Narratives – Print, Paint, Stitch with Sally Tyrie
